Horseback Riding at Tárcoles Beach – Cruise Day

What to expect

This cruise-day excursion takes horseback riding lovers from the port to the lowlands of the Tárcoles Valley in Costa Rica's Central Pacific.

From Puntarenas port or Port Caldera, drive along a beautiful Tárcoles Valley route to reach the small coastal town.

In town, enjoy an hour and a half of forest and beach horseback riding at Tárcoles Beach, looking for wildlife such as monkeys, macaws, iguanas and much more.

Step by step

1. Port Pickup & Scenic Drive to Tárcoles Valley

   45 minutes

   Private transportation from Caldera port or Puntarenas port. Enjoy a beautiful drive through the mountains to reach Tárcoles town.

   Ten (15) minutes to get on the horses, ready to have fun.

2. Horseback riding at the beach

   ~1.5 hours

   Looking for wildlife — monkeys, macaws, iguanas — and beach horseback riding.

3. Shopping and refreshments at El Jardín Butterfly Garden & Restaurant

   ~1 hour

   Break to walk at El Jardín Butterfly Garden and Restaurant: souvenir shopping, coffee purchase or optional lunch.

Where we meet

Jesus meets you at the cruise pier of the port you arrive at.

Pickup at the cruise pier. Share your ship's name and your arrival and all-aboard times; Jesus plans the tour around them and confirms the timing in your proposal.
