What to expect

The Tárcoles River & Puntarenas Highlights Cruise Day is designed for passengers docking on the Central Pacific coast, at Puntarenas or Caldera, who want to experience the wild side of Costa Rica's Pacific coast. We pick you up at the port and drive you into some of the most biodiverse areas in the country, Carara National Park and the Tárcoles River — a transition forest home to one of the largest populations of scarlet macaws in Costa Rica. Board a boat on the Tárcoles River to see some of the largest American crocodiles in the world.

Step by step

1. Port Pickup & Scenic Drive to Tárcoles River

   Flexible

   Punctual pickup directly at the port's main entrance. Travel in air-conditioned private transportation with a local guide.

2. Tárcoles River Boat Tour

   ~1:45 hours

   Boat tour to see some of the largest American crocodiles in the world, birds, iguanas, lizards, monkeys and much more. An exciting experience for nature lovers and photographers.

3. Shopping & refreshments

   ~1 hour

   Stop at El Jardín Souvenir Shop and Butterfly Garden with free time: coffee purchase, souvenirs, butterflies and optional lunch.

Where we meet

Jesus meets you at the cruise pier of the port you arrive at.

Pickup at the cruise pier. Share your ship's name and your arrival and all-aboard times; Jesus plans the tour around them and confirms the timing in your proposal.
